Farvaag (Farhad Modiri) is an Iranian composer and singer. He was born on 8th May 1991 in Tehran, Iran. At the age of 12, Farhad enrolled in the music conservatory of Tehran. During the 3 years of middle school, he played oboe under the mentorship of Farshid Hefzifard. Later on, he changed his musical instrument and from the first year of high school embarked on playing piano and tutored by Tamara Dolitze. Simultaneously, in the conservatory, he began composing music from that very year.

He learned composing music from masters such as Nima Gouran, Siavash Beizai, Arman Norouzi, Bahram Dehghanyar and Alireza Mashayekhi. After graduating from the music conservatory in the field of musical composition in 2010, he studied classical singing. To pursue this chapter of his musical journey, he studied singing under the tutorship of masters such as Hasmik Karapetyan, Ardalan Jabbari, Bojidar Nikolov and Bernhard Adler.

Since 1996, he has performed as a choir and soloist in Vahdat Hall, Rudaki Hall, Embassy of Austria, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Iran-Austria Cultural and Artistic Association and etc. All these endeavors built up his musical intelligence to a level where later on, he chose music for TV-series such as “The Man with a Thousand Faces” in 2007, “Bitter Coffee” in 2009 and “My Villa” in 2012. He also participated as a music producer and composer in TV-series “just kidding” in 2013.

In January 2009, Farhad released a short video announcing that from then on, he will perform all his artistic activities under the name of Farvaag. In June 2019, he published his debut album called “My name is love…”. Four of the songs in this album are composed and harmonized based on folk melodies and local lyrics of Northern Khorasan; two of them are composed based on the works of Ebrahim Monsefi, The famous poet, singer and composer of Hormozgan, . Rest of the songs are composed by Arin Keshishi, Amir Darabi and Farvaag himself. Well-known musicians such as Arin Kishishi, Amir Darabi, Siavash Roshan, Fereydoun Bahrami, Hossein Kamani and Alireza Ghahremani appeared in this album and contributed in the arrangement category. Before making his debut album, Farvaag traveled to Northern Khorasan and visited many Bagşies, musicians and singers of this region from whom he received great inspirations for the selection of Khorasani folk melodies and local lyrics.

From 1996, Farvaag began experimenting in the filmmaking realm. Due to his father’s profession, he was raised in such an atmosphere. In filmmaking and screenwriting, he benefited from the presence of famous artists and filmmakers such as Bahram Beizai, Asghar Farhadi, Abbas Kiarostami, Shahram Mokri, Shadmehr Rastin and Mohammad Charmshir. He made two short films in Asghar Farhadi’s filmmaking workshop, one of which, named “Don Quixote”, participated in the “short film corner” section of the 65th Cannes Film Festival (2012). He also worked as the director of music videos and documentaries in the TV-series “just kidding”.

The music video of the song “Gol Laleh Laleh” and the motion graphics of the songs of his album, “My name is love…” were among the experiments he did in the visual directing category.
